Gate Driver for Thyristors – Single Channel

Although the thyristor has been almost completely replaced by IGBTs as a switching element in drives and power distribution, this device still finds a justification for its existence. Thyristors are preferred, especially in high-current applications, but also in applications that require an extremely robust switch.

We have developed a driver that delivers not only pulsating but also continuous gate currents. Especially for gaping DC currents or non-sinusoidal AC currents, this topology establishes a continuous conduction state. Of course, this driver was also developed according to the Saxogy approach avoiding highly integrated components.
